Ski vacation: great slopes for families

Ski vacation: great slopes for families

Whether it's relaxed cross-country skiing, action in the snowboard park or skiing fun on the slopes - going on a skiing vacation with the family makes everyone happy. Everyone can decide what they want to do in the snow. There's a different option for every level of difficulty.
The only important thing is that you know the best ski resorts for families.

We went on a search and discovered four destinations in Europe that are absolutely unique in their own way. From particularly quiet (yes, even during the vacations) to an absolute insider tip - you'll find everything here:

Ski resorts where all families are happy

In our search for the best ski resorts for you and your children, we have placed particular emphasis on one selection criterion: There are particularly many 'blue slopes'. In other words, runs that lead down easy beginners' slopes. This means that you can get off to a relaxed start in the snow.

If you are more experienced or have action-loving teenagers with you, you can move on to the 'red slopes'. So let's hit the snow:

#1 Family ski area Gitschberg-Jochtal

Gitschberg-Jochtal is one of the child-friendliest ski areas in Italy. What makes it special: Despite its unique location in the province of South Tyrol, from where you can admire both the Alps and the Dolomites, the ski resort is still considered a secret tip. Even during the school vacations, it remains idyllic and quiet. This means that you can enjoy your first runs in a relaxed atmosphere and the ski schools are not overcrowded. In the mountains, there are children's areas, practice slopes and exciting funslopes for teenagers looking for action. The best 360° panorama opens up to you on the Gitschberg and Jochberg viewing platforms. As a parent, you can simply take a deep breath and enjoy your vacation in this unique setting.

#2 Family fun in Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis

Carousels in the snow for the little ones, snowboard parks for teenagers and cross-country trails for parents - the Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis ski resort in Austria is an absolute paradise for the whole family. No matter what skill level, no matter what age - everyone has fun here. One hotspot is definitely the Murmlipark, a snow adventure area of 10.000 square meters where children can learn to ski in a fun way.

Of the three villages - Serfaus, Fiss and Ladis - Fiss is probably the perfect starting point for all adventures in the surrounding mountains. In this tranquil village with around 1000 inhabitants, we particularly like the 600-year-old village center with all its winding alleyways and lots of Tyrolean charm. Would you like to combine your ski vacation with wellness? Then the Schlosshotel is something for you. Whether time out without children or Family Spa - 5-star relaxation is the order of the day here.

#3 Cheaper but equally brilliant to the Lipno ski resort

A skiing vacation with the whole family can be quite expensive. Not so in the Czech Republic. Here you can look forward to proven low prices, so you can enjoy your trip without compromise.

The ski resort Lipno is considered the best family ski resort in the country. It is located in the heart of Šumava, right next to the largest reservoir in the Czech Republic. On 13 kilometers of slopes you will find many blue, beautifully wide slopes. A highlight: the Kids Park with carpet lifts, ski carousel, fairytale slalom and entertainment program. Admission is free.

While the kids are having fun, you can - if you're a freestyle fan - enjoy one of the two parallel ski cross tracks with a tunnel, curves, waves and jumps. Or take a more leisurely approach to cross-country skiing and ski on 50 kilometers of groomed trails through the Bohemian Forest.

What you shouldn't miss out on: A day trip to the probably most beautiful UNESCO town Bohemian Krumlov, and a detour to the longest ice skating rink in the world, which has even made it into the Guinness Book of Records.

The special ski resort that only a few people know about

Last up is our absolute insider tip. It goes to Andorra. Here you are far away from the crowds, but in the middle of a backdrop that will amaze you: In the eastern Pyrenees, you can look up to 3,000-metre-high, snow-covered peaks and take a break at the many natural lakes. The most popular ski resort is Grandvalira. 210 kilometers of slopes are made for all levels of difficulty. And if you don't feel like whizzing down the slopes anymore, you can take one of the many cross-country skiing routes or build igloos.

A special treat for the whole family: let 14 huskies pull you through the snow on a sledge. You can book a ride here, for example.

Ski areas for real pros

By the way: We haven't listed any 'black slopes' - i.e. the really daring ones - here. Simply so that your family vacation remains as relaxed as possible and no injuries occur. However, if you fancy going to a ski resort where James Bond has already been, you can read more here.
